Diabetes Management-What Do We Do
Diabetes is a complex chronic condition. Several factors come together and play a role in a person developing type 2 diabetes. Obesity and a sedentary lifestyle play a major role. Genetics has a pretty strong influence on whether you’ll get this disease.
Several gene mutations have been linked to the development of type 2 diabetes. These gene mutations can interact with the environment and each other to further increase your risk. Just because you have a gene mutation does not mean you will get the disease, though. But if you do have a family history and do get a mutated gene, your risks of getting the disease are high.
Type 2 diabetes is essentially a disease of faulty glucose metabolism which, if not controlled properly can lead to a variety of health complications, including death. Through our genetic test, we will assess whether you have gene mutations which put you at risk of type 2 diabetes and what you could do to eliminate the risk.
